A band in Uganda - Watch our appeal video NOW
When Chris was in Uganda in the 1990s he helped found the Outspan Day and Boarding School in the
poorest part of Kampala. Bwaise is literally a swamp and a slum town featured recently on the
BBC's Sports Relief Appeal. That extract is available to be viewed here.
The School is a Primary Day and Boarding School named after the Outspan which the grave of Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting, over looks in Kenya. The school is run on Scouting principles helping orphans and
the poorest children in Uganda to get a good Education. Originally the school was just a timber building but this was quicky eaten by Tirmites. Chris introduced a team from Northamptonshire to provide a cement building and a modern school providing comfortable accomodation.
Here is a video of the school at work.
Chris's first love is the school band which he provided with instruments and uniforms. Now almost 20 years
on those uniforms are worn out and the band needs new uniforms.
Project 2012 is to raise £3000 to meet the needs of the children.
